Sri Sharadamba Temple (SEVA), Milpitas

Sri Sharadamba is the presiding deity of our temple — a divine embodiment of Goddess Saraswathi, the eternal source of knowledge, wisdom, music, and the arts. She holds a supremely venerable position in Hindu spirituality, especially revered at the Sringeri Sharada Peetham in Karnataka — one of the four cardinal Advaita Vedanta monasteries established by Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya over a thousand years ago.
The name "Sharada" signifies the one who is the essence of all learning. She is depicted holding the Veena (representing the arts), a book (representing the Vedas), a mala (representing meditation), and bestowing the Abhaya Mudra (representing divine protection).
At SEVA temple, Sri Sharadamba is worshipped daily with elaborate abhishekam, alankaram, and archana. Devotees from across the Bay Area seek her blessings for children's education, success in academic pursuits, artistic endeavors, and spiritual enlightenment.
The Sharada tradition emphasizes that true knowledge leads to liberation (Moksha). By her grace, devotees are guided from darkness to light — from ignorance to the supreme wisdom that underlies all creation.
